About · Depok, West Java
A software house that stayed in Depok.
Twenty-four people on Margonda, building operational software for Indonesian companies since 2016 — and still running most of what we shipped in the first three years.
The short version
Tenun started in 2016 as three engineers doing weekend work for a savings cooperative two blocks down Margonda. The cooperative was running eight thousand members out of linked spreadsheets. We built them a ledger. They are still a client.
What we learned there set the shape of the company. The interesting problem is almost never the application everyone is asking for — it is the handover between the system that takes the order and the system that bills for it. That seam is where the hours disappear, where the numbers stop matching, and where nobody's vendor wants to take responsibility.
So that is what we do. We take the seam. We name it in the contract, build it, reconcile it, and stay on to run it. It is unglamorous work and it compounds: the average client relationship here is now over six years.
We stayed in Depok on purpose. Talent comes out of Universitas Indonesia and Gunadarma every year and mostly commutes an hour into Jakarta to do work that could be done here. Rent on Margonda costs a fraction of Sudirman, and we pass that difference into engineering hours rather than a lobby.
What we will not do
Four commitments, on paper
No hostage code. Repositories and cloud accounts are in your name from the first commit.
No rotating juniors. The engineers who scope your work are the ones who build it, and one of them stays on support.
No silent overrun. If a scope is going to slip we tell you in the increment it happens, not at delivery.
No lock-in dressed as a platform. We build on tools you could hire for anywhere in Jakarta.
